SIFDR surfaces conditions in the source file worth looking at before design begins.

FORMATS, IN AND OUT

The format is the requirement. Not the CAD tool.

SIFDR reads and writes DWG and DXF. It has its own CAD engine, so it fits the workflow you already have rather than replacing it.

DWG and DXF, in and out

Both formats go in, and both come back out — including a DWG exported from Revit.

CAD-exported PDFs, going in

A PDF works as an input only if it was exported from CAD and still carries its layer information. Scanned, photographed, or flattened PDFs will not work, and SIFDR does not return PDFs.

One plan per upload

One floor, one unit type. Multi-unit buildings are handled one unit at a time — so a 40-sheet set is not one upload.

REFLECTED CEILING PLANS

The other half of what SIFDR does.

Cleanup is the half everyone expects. This is the half that is usually missing from the conversation.

SIFDR creates the reflected ceiling plan grid.

RCP cleanup

SIFDR cleans up reflected ceiling plans you already have.

Your engineer populates them

SIFDR does not populate the RCP. That stays your engineer’s work — see the boundary below.

THE BOUNDARY

SIFDR creates the reflected ceiling plan grid and cleans up existing RCPs. It does not populate them.

Populating the RCP stays your engineer’s work, and we would rather you knew that before you started than after. SIFDR is a tool that assists your engineer’s work. It is not the final word, and it is not a compliance engine. Your engineer reviews the plans for accuracy, and the stamp is theirs.

REVISIONS

First-pass cleanup is a cost you have already learned to absorb. Revisions are the one that keeps coming back.

The architect moves a wall. On a revision you re-run SIFDR instead of cleaning the same drawing again — for the life of the project.
